He talks to me like I am a person and he listens to me (whether I rant or not). Dr. Joshi is expertly aware of what needs further evaluation and what may not and he includes me in the decision-making, which assures me that my opinion and input matters. Providers like Dr. Joshi are far few and in between. He is kind, respectful, he has sound clinical judgement and, most importantly, puts his patients/families at the center of their care. Dr. Joshi knows that healthcare is not an exact science; not every patient fits into a specific clinical picture. Healthcare can present in many different forms and Dr. Joshi allows himself to understand that and presents that to patients in a way they can understand. I am very grateful to be in the care of Dr. Joshi. I have had several different primary care providers and have not encountered one who is as real, caring, compassionate and respectful as Dr. Joshi. It is an honor being a patient of his.

My name is Elkin and I have been a patient of Dr. Joshi’s for over 25 years. I am one of his original patients. Since the beginning his services and care have been outstanding. I have been with Dr. Joshi for a long time and I have no reason to change doctors as he addresses all my concerns. There have been a few instances that Dr. Joshi has treated me for some personal health issues, which he went above and beyond to help me. I highly recommend him to many of my friends and family.

Dr. Joshi has seen me through some serious health issues. Two years after a knee replacement at a premier Boston hospital, I developed an infection. I went straight to Dr. Joshi who called the hospital for me. We were told I could not be admitted for at least another week. This worried Dr. Joshi so he had me come to his office each day so he could check the wound and clean it. One of the days during that week, Dr. Joshi was off for a conference, but he still had me meet him in the office on his way home to check on me. It has always seemed to me that Dr. Joshi truly cares about his patients and for that reason; I constantly sing his praises and tell my friends if they need a great doctor to go see him. My husband and I are thankful to have him for our doctor.

Dr. Ashok Joshi has been taking care of my health for the past 20 plus years. He has done a great job and I feel very blessed to have him as my primary care. During this period, I have also referred a number of my friends to Dr. Joshi. He gives lot of personal attention to his patients and tries to understand the cause of ailment. In this process, he generally spend more time with his patients which sometimes result in long waiting time for others. This shows the level of care Dr. Joshi tries to provide to his patients. Most of the time, he has been able to accommodate our last minute appointments. About 10 years ago, we moved from Chelmsford, MA to Hollis, NH which has increased our travel time to almost 50 minutes each way but he is our primary care physician. Thank you Dr. Joshi.

Over the near decade I have been in his care, Dr. Joshi has unfailingly embodied the personal and professional qualities I aspire to put into my own practice. As a capable and compassionate provider valued by numerous patients as a trusted custodian of health, Dr. Joshi is a true asset to Billerica and, indeed, our commonwealth. Dr. Joshi cares for three generations of my family-myself and my brother, my parents, and my grandmother. I can firmly attest that each of us, irrespective of our unique health needs, has received nothing short of the highest quality care from him. Dr. Joshi’s quick wit, patience, and thoughtful manner readily endeared him to my grandmother, who, as an elderly immigrant and non-English speaker, has often been uncomfortable with healthcare providers in the past. On more than one occasion, I have caught a smile on her face as she returns home from her appointments. He seeks to understand his patients, and succeeds at providing treatment in ways that are both culturally sensitive and medically appropriate. To see these qualities and level of concern from a physician who simultaneously maintains an independent practice, sees a full schedule of patients, and stays up-to-date with his fund of knowledge without the support of physician coworkers is, frankly, extraordinary.

Roy R. Shen, M.D., F.A.C.S. Lowell General Hospital
I first met Dr. Joshi in 2003 when I started in practice as a general surgeon in Lowell. I have taken care of many of his patients over the years and they have consistently expressed great appreciation for his thoughtful care. He displays great responsibility and care for his job by making sure all practitioners involved are understanding of the treatment path for his patients. He has shown this by contacting me directly to clearly explain his reasons for referral, especially for those requiring more urgent evaluation. I find that he is caring, has outstanding medical judgement, and ethically is beyond reproach. I would recommend him to my own family as a primary care physician. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.
